Honors Greece Program 2006 Information

"UNO's first travel/study program, specifically designed for honors students, will be a unique opportunity for you to immerse yourself in one of the most unique and interesting cultures ever to evolve. Join us this summer in Greece. Live and learn where Western civilization began."

Dr. Linda Blanton, Director
Honors Program
University of New Orleans

May 20- June 11, 2006

In May 2000, the University of New Orleans Honors Program pioneered its international studies course with the cooperation of the International Education Office. The three-week adventure is in Greece, where honors students learn and live in the cradle of Western Civilization. Course work includes on-site classes and lectures from some of the most knowledgeable teachers in the world, required readings, and two papers to be written upon the completion of the tour. The program is now in its fifth year and is open to any honors student in good standing, who has completed Arts and Sciences 1119 and its companion English course.

Join us this summer and take advantage of a unique opportunity to study where cultures merge and history emerged. Once center of the ancient Western world, Greece has a rich tradition in the arts, literature, language, and law. Participate with other Honors students in a fascinating journey of fun and discovery. Learn through on-site lectures given by Greek professors. Each of two courses will carry three semester hours of credit and emphasize the exploration of this culturally-rich world. Visits to Athens, Mycenae, Epidavros, Olympia, Delphi, the Sporades Islands, Mount Olympus, and Thessaloniki are included in the tour. Also included are two meals daily, all in-country land transportation, entrance fees to historic sites and museums, guides, hotels, sailing to islands, and lectures. Not included is New Orleans - Athens airfare. Don't wait. Sign up today and join other Honors students on the adventure of a lifetime.
